What Is The Truth about The Statement Attributed To Nasser Al-Ghannam Regarding Removing The Turkish Flag From The Zelkan Base In Bashiqa?

A news post circulated on social media reads as follows: "Lieutenant-General Nasser Al-Ghannam: If I were given a military order to take down the Turkish flag from the Zelkan base in Bashiqa, I would not hesitate for a moment, and I would take it down despite whoever it was."

The Truth:

By searching to verify this news, we did not find any source to prove that the head of the Military Academy, Lieutenant-General (Nasser Al-Ghannam) made such a statement, whether through his official verified page on Facebook or through any interview with him.

Furthermore, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense denied, through its official accounts, the validity of the statement attributed to Al-Ghanam about being the head of a large military force at the Zelkan base in Bashiqa. Explaining that Al-Ghannam is the head of the Military Academy, a training institution that has nothing to do with combat.

Zelkan is a Turkish military base located in Bashiqa district, Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq.
