What is the truth of the video circulating as the opening of the 2022 World Cup?
A video was circulated on social media with the following caption "The moment of lighting the flame of the Qatar World Cup."
The Truth:
The caption is UNTRUE. the video shows (Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Thani) while carrying the flame of the 15th Asian Games opening ceremony, which was conducted in Duha, the capital of Qatar in 2006.
Qatar hosted and competed in the 15th Asian Games from 1-15 of Dec. in Khalifa international stadium, as about 13,000 athletes participated and competed for (1393) golden, silver bronze medals.
China topped the participants' countries, while Qatar, the host took the 9th position internationally, and 1st among the Arabian countries.
The opening included number of international artists such as (the Lebanese Majda Al-Rumi who sang with the Spanish operatic tenor José Carreras, and the Indian Sunidhi Chauhan, and the Chinese Jacky Cheung).
Also, some of presidents attended such as (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Bashar al-Assad, Ali Abdullah Saleh, Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Ismail Haniyeh).
