What is the truth about the circulated photos claiming to show cars buried underground in Najaf?
Photos were circulated on social media accompanied by text stating, "Luxury cars of unknown ownership found buried underground near Bahr Al-Najaf within Najaf Al-Ashraf Province."
The truth
The circulated photos are not real and were generated by artificial intelligence. Many programs can be used to create similar images by writing a specific description for the desired image to be generated by AI. The circulated photos were published on an Instagram account named (moddedform), which specializes in design and creating digital images. The digitally generated photos were posted in January 2024. Upon reviewing the account, it was found that many images of cars generated by artificial intelligence had been published.
Recently, many AI-generated images have been circulated, with some being shared out of context. We have previously clarified similar cases where AI-generated images were circulated as real photos.
There are also many websites capable of detecting AI-generated images and texts.
