The truth
The circulated photo is fake, as the fabricator edited the original photo by replacing the emblem of the Republic of Iraq with a picture of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran (Ruhollah Khomeini) and the current Supreme Leader (Ali Khamenei).
The original photo dates back to Wednesday, July 3, 2024, during the visit of the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Masoud Barzani) to the capital, Baghdad. The Prime Minister of Iraq (Mohammed Al-Sudani) hosted a luncheon attended by many prominent political figures.
This visit sparked controversy in Iraqi circles, as there were expectations of a gap between Baghdad and Erbil due to political and legal disputes between them.
Moreover, the presence of prominent leaders from Iraqi armed factions known for their opposition to the regional government's policies at this meeting stirred public opinion in Iraq.
