Our team researched to verify the circulated news about the dismissal of Abdul Hussain Salman from the management of the (Basra Education Directorate) and did not find any source confirming this. Neither the Ministry of Education nor any official media outlets announced similar news.
The (Basra Education Directorate) also denied the news of the dismissal of the Basra Education Director Abdul Hussain Salman. In a statement published on its official Facebook page today, Monday, July 29, 2024, the directorate said:
"This news is not true as the General Director met in his office this morning, Monday, July 29, 2024, with the General Director of Examinations and Curricula."
Moreover, it is not within the authority of the Basra Governor to dismiss the General Director of the province's education. According to the clarification from the State Council, issued today, Monday, through official documents related to the powers of appointing and assigning high positions in the general directorates of education in the provinces, in response to the Ministry of Education's inquiry about the powers of appointing general directors and directors working in the directorates.
The council's clarification included the following text:
"The authority of the provincial council in appointment and dismissal is limited to the local employee."
"The departments of the Ministry of Education in the provinces are not subsidiary departments covered by the provisions of Article (45) of the Provincial Law, and the employees in them are not considered local employees."
