Several pages on social media platforms circulated the following news: “Arresting the owner of the Abu Shwan tourist restaurant in Tuz Khurmatu on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road due to using of donkey meat and other expired ones, causing poisoning of more than 50 people, some of them in a serious condition.”

The truth:

The news about arresting the owner of the Abu Shwan restaurant is incorrect, as the owner of the restaurant denied the claim through a video clip of him on the restaurant’s page, stressing that what is being circulated is a rumor and false news.

Also, the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Interior, including the Kirkuk Governorate Police Directorate, did not recently state arresting a restaurant owner for using donkey meat or expired meat.

Moreover, the Kirkuk Health Department did not make any statement recently regarding the closure of a restaurant due to donkey meat.
