A video clip was circulated on social media platforms showing the shooting down of two Israeli helicopters by the Al-Qassam Brigades.
The truth:
The post is fake. The circulated video belongs to a video game called ARMA3. This video had been previously uploaded on YouTube on October 3, 2023, with a title indicating that it shows the downing of two planes in the ARMA game.
This claim started circulating after the launch of the "Tufan al-Aqsa Fight" battle that began on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when Palestinian militants entered several settlements. The General Commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Al-Dayf, announced the commencement of a military campaign against Israel in anger over what he described as "Israeli crimes against the sanctities." This was in response to the ongoing incursions into West Bank cities and due to the continued blockade on Gaza. The operation began with the firing of more than 5,000 rockets and shells.
