What is the truth about Iraqi school students chanting the slogan “Free, Free Israel”?

A video clip circulated on social media platforms claiming that female elementary school students chanted the phrase: “Israel free free, Palestine go out.”

The truth:

The claim that circulated is misleading and incorrect, as the clip dates back to a mourning vigil organized by (Mahabbat Al-Zahraa) Primary School for Girls in Wasit Governorate in solidarity with the events in Palestine, and the students and teaching staff chanted the phrase, “Palestine Free Free, Israel, Go Out,” and not what was claimed.

This was confirmed by the school principal (Balsam Youssef) via her Facebook account, where she shared some details of the mourning stand at the time, during which she delivered a speech in solidarity with the Palestinian people. She also shared a video clip of the protest as they chanted the phrase “Free, Free Palestine.”

It is noteworthy that, in conjunction with the ongoing events in Palestine and their exposure to continuous bombing since the beginning of the “Taufan Al-Aqsa” battle launched by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, many Iraqi schools worked to organize protests and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
