What is the truth about the post that mentions the Israeli National Security meeting against the backdrop of targeting their sites in Erbil?

A post circulated on social media platforms with text stating: “An emergency meeting of the Israeli National Security Council against the backdrop of Iranian strikes on Israeli sites in Erbil.”

The truth:

The circulated post is fabricated, as Al Jazeera did not report a similar news item announcing "a meeting of the Israeli National Security following the attack on Israeli sites in Erbil," as claimed. The fabrication involved using the Instagram template of the channel and modifying it by adding the fake text, and a clear difference can be observed between the font used by the channel in its news reports and the one used in the fake post.

After inspecting the residence of the Kurdish businessman targeted in the attack on Erbil by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Iraqi National Security Advisor (Qasim Al-Araji) confirmed that:

"The claims about targeting a Mossad headquarters are baseless."

This fabricated post circulated after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for the attack on Erbil with 11 ballistic missiles, alleging the targeting of an Israeli Mossad headquarters.

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires in Baghdad (Abu Al-Fadl Azizi) and handed him a protest memorandum expressing Iraq's condemnation and denunciation of the attack, which resulted in civilian casualties and damages to public and private properties.

It is worth noting that Erbil had previously been subjected to a rocket attack in 2022, also claimed by the Revolutionary Guard. At that time, there were reports circulating about the destruction of a Mossad headquarters, but in reality, the targeted building belonged to the businessman Sheikh Baz Karim, the CEO of the company "Kar," and the building suffered material damage due to the missile strike.
