Does the video show the moment when the accused known as Um Al-Loul, is released from prison?

A video clip circulated on social media accompanied by text stating "Um Al-Loul was acquitted."

The Truth

The accompanying claim is fake and untrue. The video is old and dates back to January 2024, when Um Al-Loul was at a shopping center in the Mansour area of Baghdad. The place she was in was surrounded by a group of young people, and she couldn't leave until a police patrol arrived and escorted her out. An audio clip from another video was attached to the circulated video, which Um Al-Loul had shared at the beginning of January 2024 when she was leaving the court.

Her lawyer, Tariq Al-Shar'a, posted a statement on his Facebook account dated June 10, in which he mentioned: The news of the release of Hadeel Khaled, AKA Um Al-Loul, is false, and the case file is still under review by the Federal Court of Cassation and is currently before the esteemed judges of the court. The decision is expected to be issued immediately after Eid Al-Adha.

This post has been circulated after the General Directorate of Narcotics announced on May 29 the arrest of Um Al-Loul on charges of "trafficking drugs.".

A judicial decision has been issued sentencing her to life imprisonment for drug trafficking according to the provisions of Article 28 of the 2017 Law on Drugs and Psychotropic Substances."
