What is the truth behind the recent news about Kuwaiti artist Shams Al-Kuwaitia visiting Iraq?

Circulated on social media is an image accompanied by the text: "After her criticism of Iraqi politicians, artist Shams visits Iraq and starts her trip at an orphanage."

Clarification

The attached claim is misleading. The photo is old, dating back to 2023, during Shams Kuwaiti's visit to Dar Farah Orphanage in Baghdad.

The artist reposted the photo on her Instagram account on June 12, 2024, which led some to believe the visit was recent. However, by observing the atmosphere in the photo, it is clear that it is old, as it was taken in winter (winter clothing, Christmas tree).

Additionally, after following the artist on her social media accounts, it has been confirmed that she is currently in the United Arab Emirates. She was seen shopping at (Spinneys), a shopping center in the UAE, on Wednesday, June 12. Upon examining the product prices in her posts, it is noticeable that they are displayed in UAE dirhams, the official currency of the country.

This post is being circulated after Shams appeared on her Snapchat account while in Baghdad in April 2024. She talked about a person who proposed to her, mentioning that he is a wealthy businessman with political influence. Following her statement, a rumor emerged claiming that the man is Iraqi. She later appeared in another video, where she lashed out with insults at Iraqi politicians and the Iraqi media.

As a result, the Iraqi Artists Syndicate issued a statement on April 20, mentioning that the artist is banned from practicing any artistic work in Iraq for an entire year.
