What is the truth about the photo claimed to belong to the drone that targeted the home of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi?
Some news agencies and several pages on social media platforms circulated a photo attached to the following text: "Photo of the booby-trapped drone that targeted the house of Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi."
The truth:
1- The photo attached to the post is old and not related to the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, which the photo previously published on July 5, 2021, for a drone that was shot down near the headquarters of the American embassy in the Green Zone in Baghdad at the time. 2- As for the news that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi was subjected to an assassination attempt, it is true, as the operation was done through three drones, one of which targeted his house, causing several damages inside. At the same time, two of them were shot down, and an unexploded projectile was also found, according to what the governmental media announced.
The early hours of this morning witnessed the announcement of the security media that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi was subjected to a failed assassination attempt by a drone, and photos were published showing the damage caused to Al-Kadhimi's house by an attempt to target him.
