What is the truth about the photo circulated as belonging to the deployment of Saraya al-Salam yesterday in Baghdad?
Several pages on social media platforms circulated many photos attached with the following text: "with photos, Saraya al-Salam deployed in al-Sadr City, Al Shaab, Ur neighborhood, al-Husseiniya, Al-Fadiliyah, Al-Shula, Al-Mashtal, Al-Zafaraniya, Jisr Diyala, Al-Jihad neighborhood, Al-Bayaa'."
The clarification:
The attached photos are old, and it has nothing to do with the spread of Saraya al-Salam yesterday in Baghdad and as follows:
- The first photo is old. It was posted on Facebook on February 9, 2021, accompanied by the following text: “with photos, part of the deployment of the leadership of the First Baghdad Division, Heroes of Saraya al-Salam in the capital, Baghdad, after receiving intelligence information that there was an attack targeting religious shrines in the capital, Baghdad and the province of Holy Karbala and Najaf and declaring full readiness for any emergency."
- The second photo is also old. It was posted on Twitter, on February 8, 2021, with other similar photos.
- The third photo is also old, and it was posted on Facebook on February 8, 2021, of the deployment of Saraya Al-Salam fighters in Al-Sadreen Square in Najaf Governorate.
The deployment of forces from Saraya Al-Salam came in the last hours of Monday night, February 8, 2021, in conjunction with the announcement by the Saraya Al-Salam's spokesman, Safaa Al-Tamimi, in an interview with AlSumaria, “The meeting with the commanders al-Saraya military came out with the announcement of full readiness and the start of the deployment of the al-Saraya in the threatened provinces, which is Baghdad Karbala and Najaf," noting that "the threat includes violating the sanctities of Shiites and Sunnis, as well as the sanctities of non-Muslims."
Noting that clarifying the truth of these photos does not negate the news of the deployment of Saraya al-Salam yesterday, as many news agencies published the news of Saraya al-Salam forces deployment in some areas of the capital, Baghdad, last night.
The circulation of these publications comes before the first session of the Council of Representatives of Iraq in its fifth term, which is scheduled to be held today at 11 AM.
