Is the video circulating due to the recent Crow invasion in the United States of America?
A video clip circulated on social media platforms captioned: “A large number of Crows have invaded the United States of America, then they ascend to the sky and perform a parade and draw strange things as if they were an encrypted message.”
The truth:
The circulated post is misleading, as the attached video consists of two clips. The first clip is old, dating back to 2020, when a flock of birds known as "Grackles" invaded a city in the state of Texas, USA.
Upon fact-checking, it became clear that this is not a rare occurrence but rather a recurring one. A video was previously circulated in 2016 showing a large group of birds scattered in a parking lot. Additionally, in 2017, the University of Texas warned against approaching the birds as they had become more aggressive after their spread in the same year.
The second clip, showing a flock of birds flying in the sky, is also old and was captured in 2015. It features a group of starlings in the sky of Utrecht, the Netherlands, filmed by the videographer Roelof van Steen.
In summary, the video is old and does not depict a rare or unusual situation, as misleadingly circulated.
