What is he truth about the alleged announcement by Swedish agencies regarding the Norwegian police finding Slawan Momeka's dead body in his apartment?
A Circulating news on social media states the following: "Swedish agencies: Norwegian police find the body of Swedish citizen of Iraqi origin Slawan Momeka dead in his apartment without any other details."
The truth
The news is fake, when searching using four languages (Norwegian, Swedish, English, and Arabic) to verify the circulating news about finding the body of the Iraqi refugee (Slawan Momeka), who had previously organized several incidents of desecration and burning of the Quran in the Swedish capital Stockholm, we found no source confirming its validity. No reliable Swedish, Norwegian, or international news site or agency has reported such news, and the Norwegian police have not announced finding Momeka's body as claimed.
Upon examining the sources described as "Swedish agencies," we found that they are random websites, two of which are Turkish and one Lebanese, that reported the news as "alleged" and did not confirm its accuracy.
It's worth mentioning that we clarified the truth of the news yesterday, Monday, April 1, 2024, after it began circulating from Kurdish pages before Arabic platforms spread it.
The fake news was published a few days after Momeka announced his departure from Sweden to Norway after his residence permit was canceled.
Momeka stated in a message circulated by the media that he:
"Has arrived in Norway where he intends to seek asylum."
He indicated that he:
"Left Sweden due to persecution from government institutions."
