What is the truth about the circulated video claiming to show Noor Zuhair after returning from Hajj?
A video was circulated on social media accompanied by text stating, "Hajj Noor Zuhair after returning from the holy lands."
The truth
The attached claim is misleading, as the video shows a person named (Mohammed Hisham Dawood), who claims to specialize in training on "finding business ideas and organizing work schedules," not (Noor Zuhair), one of the suspects in the theft of tax and customs deposits, known as the "theft of the century."
As for Noor Zuhair's pilgrimage and return, we could not verify the truth of that, as there are no reliable sources to confirm or deny it.
Noor Zuhair was arrested on October 24, 2022, by orders of the then Minister of Interior, during his attempt to flee the country via Baghdad International Airport. In November 2022, Judge Diyaa Jaafar of the Karkh Investigation Court specialized in integrity issues announced:
"The release of Noor Zuhair on bail was based on the Code of Criminal Procedure after he expressed his willingness to return the financial amounts owed by his companies and to conduct a financial settlement amounting to more than one trillion and six hundred billion dinars within a specified period."
Furthermore, Member of Parliament (Mustafa Sand) announced in April 2023 that:
"The suspect in the theft of tax deposits traveled to Dubai after the travel ban was lifted.
