What is the truth about the video clip showing a Yemeni plane whose tires were damaged during its flight?
A video clip circulated on social media platforms accompanied by the following text: “Yemen Air Tires. A circulating clip of the tires of a Yemeni aircraft.”
The truth:
The attached claim is misleading, as it became clear after fact-checking that the plane shown in the circulating video clip belongs to the Australian airline (Qantas), as an account on the X social media platforms (formerly Twitter) had previously shared in 2019 part of the currently circulating video clip, accompanied by a description:
"Thanks to the skilled crew who made a safe emergency landing in Canberra!"
The airline's official account responded to it:
"Hi Olga, on takeoff the tyre was damaged so our crew returned to Canberra so engineers could inspect it."
Also, international news websites previously covered clips from the same circulating video clip and indicated that the airline (Qantas) opened an investigation after the tires of four aircraft in its Q400 Dash-8 fleet exploded within four weeks of the aforementioned year.
That is, the plane shown in the circulating video clip belongs to an Australian airline, not a Yemeni one. Its accident occurred on Australian territory as well, and the video clip is old and dates back to 2019.
